We all know that Rob Dyrdek and the Skate Plaza concept are slowly changing the face of street skateboarding by making outdoor spaces that are not only beautiful and useable by the community, but also 100% skateable (and legal to skate). This month "Dwell Magazine" recognized DC's Rob Dyrdek for his Skate Plaza efforts by awarding him one of their coveted Nice Modernist Awards.
"Dwell Magazine" is a publication that focuses on architecture and living spaces it's an honor for the magazine to step out of its usual realm and feature a skateboarder like Dyrdek and the Skate Plaza concept. The Nice Modernist Awards "honor a group of pioneers making a difference in the world through modern design who use design to improve lives with creativity, ingenuity, and heart."
In describing his efforts, Dwell notes, "Rob Dyrdek is helping to create urban areas that meet the recreational needs of both skaters and the general public."
"Dwell" presented Rob with an award at a ceremony this past weekend in Los Angeles, plus you can check out a spread about Rob and Skate Plazas in the latest issue of the mag. The Dec/Jan issue of "Dwell Magazine" is on stands now.
